Settled just a stone’s throw from the back of Temple Meads train station, the Barley Mow is one of the only traditional pubs in the area where you can get good food, a friendly welcome and the best beer money can buy. Conveniently situated at the end of the Bristol to Bath cycle path means we are the ideal location for a well-earned break from peddling. This also means that you can reach the Barley Mow easily by bike, train, car or good old fashioned walking; we are also not that far from one of the ferry stops so you’ve got no excuse not to pop in!
The Bristol Beer Factory are proud to treat the Barley Mow as their flagship pub and the brewers often put their heads together with the Mow staff to produce new and interesting collaboration brews, especially when an event calls for something special! The rest of the time our eight hand pulls and ten keg taps are consistently pouring the best local ales and a variety of craft beers to satisfy everyone’s tipple. Three of the hand pulls are dedicated to BBF’s finest with the other five being shared out to the best local and national brands. And if beer is not your thing (perish the thought), there is a great selection of ciders, wines & spirits to tickle your tastebuds.
The pub had a make-over in 2013, turning it from a good local into one of Bristol’s first craft beer bars. The aim was simple - to retain the cosy/local feel of the pub while serving great beer and food to our loyal customers and perhaps offering something new to the people of Bristol.
We are so glad to say we have never looked back since and the Barley Mow is going from strength to strength. Our fantastic team of kitchen and bar staff have been working their socks off to provide the best service, beer and food we can possibly manage. The kitchen is small but the standard of food we deliver is second to none - excellent pub food at very good prices.
With a range of events throughout the year, there’s a regular excuse for a knees up! Come & celebrate our birthday party with us in April, drink some fine American beer for Independence Day in July or get your lederhosen on for our German beer festival ‘the Reinheitsgebot’ in September. Not doing things by halves, each event hosts a whole range of speciality beers, suitably styled food and live music. Other than these regular yearly events there is of course our weekly Monday night pub quiz as well as a host of other events – keep an eye on the events page to see what is coming up.
